Tankless water heater maintenance and descale procedure

You have made the most important step to take care of your Tankless Water Heater:  the search for San Antonio Plumber!

It is important for you to understand why you need to perform descale procedure on this equipment. It is not cheap and you want to keep it in running condition for as long as possible. Another reason is to keep the efficiency on the machine as close as possible to the original level, by preventing scale buildups on inside of the heat exchanger. That way you will maintain low operating cost and healthy water heating system.

The procedure is fairly easy but if you do not want to get your hands dirty, call a trained and certified specialist.

What you need for the task is a 5 gal. bucket, a sump. pump, two washing machine hoses and two gallons vinegar or “Flow Aide“ solution. You have to make sure your tankless unit is properly installed first. If there are no dual port shut off valves installed the procedure is not doable. You need to get a plumber to install dose.

After you have the special valve kit on the unit:

Step One: shut off the lower handles – cold and hot water supply.

Step Two: hook up one hose to the pump and the other end to the available cold side port.  The second hose goes from the port on the hot side strait into the bucket.

Step Three: turn off the gas supply.

Step Four: pour the vinegar in the bucket and open the valves with the connected hoses.

Step Five: connect the pump to a power source.

Step Six: let the liquid circulate for 45-60 minutes.

Step Seven: unplug the pump, close the valves, disconnect the hoses.

Step Eight: open the cold water supply and flush trough the hot side with clean water for 30 sec.

Step Nine: close the hot flush port and open the hot outlet valve to restore hot water supply to the house.

Step Ten: open the gas valve and turn the power off/on to the tankless water heater.

That is it, you are all set. Go in your home and test the temperature oh the hot water. After you did this you should be good for one to one and a half years to the next flush procedure.
